CALCULATING METRODS FOR THE SETTLEMENT OF HIGHWAY'S FOUNDATION & ANALYSE AND VERIFICATION OF HIGH FILLS'SETTLEMENT STABllJZATION

The calculation of the settlement of roadbed is always a difficult problem that puzzles scientific researched and engineers on highway. The precision of its calculating results has directly an effect on the design, construction, use and maintenance of highway, hi order to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional calculating method and other numerical methods including FEM, the researchers or the engineers like to analyze the original settlement data to predict the settlement. Compared with the traditional calculating or numerical methods, this method has the advantage of simpleness, convenience and nicety. However, the accuracy of predicted settlement by analyzing the original data, depends mainly on the methods used in analyzing data. For this reason, the thesis is focused on the following aspects:1. Using the gray theory to solve the problems on the settlement prediction, for the unequal interval of the original data, the variable loading on the embankment, the latest information, or non-enough accurate model.02. Using the back propagation model in artificial neural networks on the settlement calculation, doing the research of how to select the training specimen, analyzing the effect of different parameters of the model on the prediction, and editing relevant programmes by compute language C.3. Using curve-fitting method, which makes use of all the original data instead of just several representative data, to calculate the settlement, editing corresponding programmes in compute language Matlab5.3 to solve the problem, pointing out how to do when the range of the original data takes changes, and how to make thesubsection fitting come true. 4. Through analyzing the settlement data of three representative high fills, to verifythe settlement of the foundations of these embankments achieve the requires.Giving several suggestions on the construction of high fills, hi a word, the thesis has done the research on calculating the settlement of the foundation of highway by using several methods, and combining with several examples to evaluate the calculating results. The research results have shown that many methods can be used for selecting to calculate the settlement of subgrade. At the same time, these fruits help to direct further optimum design, arrange construction schedule reasonably, control the engineering quality. Also, the research has important reference value to the design and construction of closer civil engineerings.
