Urban rail transit system is characterized by its high-speed, convenience and large carrying capacity. Signaling system, the control equipment of urban rail transit system for drive direction and train movement, plays the important role in ensuring the drive safety, enhancing the transport efficiency and is one of key technologies of the rail transit system. This paper describes the components and structure of advanced signaling system: Automatic Train Control system (ATC), analyzes the function and classification of its three subsystems: ATS, ATP and ATO, with emphasis on currently widely adopted ATC system-Quasi-Moving-Block signaling system, which works on coded digit track circuit, and discusses the operating principles of coded digit track circuit and the features of train control of Quasi-Moving-Block signaling system. It also calculates theoretically the minimal time interval between two trains in quasi-moving-block signaling system and recommends approximate values for the length of coded digit track circuit.The rapid development of urban rail transit demands a deep understanding on the features of track circuit. In this paper, the study method is adopted for employing MATLAB to simulate the transition feature of track circuit, the steady-state response of track circuit is simulated when the alternative sine wave signal is inputted, and the corresponding results are interpreted.Moving-block signaling system indicates the development tendency of urban rail transit signaling system. The paper examines the principles of communication based moving-block signaling system, its typical structure and its practical methods. Then it discusses the signaling system in Guangzhou Metro Line No.4 and points out the necessity and possibility of adopting the moving-block signaling technology for its linear motor carrying system.Train graph and timetable are the working plan and foundation for train operation management. In the last part, the paper makes an analysis of the modules of train working diagram and timetable of the ATS system and achieves the aim of automated train scheduling for subway.
