On The Design Of General Guidance Environment In Public Pension Facilities

Having the largest aging population,it brings a great influence on most of us,that’s why it becomes an ever heated social issue in China.To meet the growing demand from our people,government encourage private individuals or businesses to found infrastructures for aged,which can coping with care stress both families and public nursing homes.But profit-oriented operation is criticized for less personal makes these institutions polarize and present lower holistic level than foreign countries.How to optimize the design to increase usage based on the current condition will become a important aspect of sustainable development.The paper start with the concept of people oriented,through lighting environment,color,sign design,audio cue,the mode of space to optimize the environmental special sign system in the public institution for the elders thereby providing a friendly design not merely normal but also disabled elderly people.There are three main parts in this paper:The first part introduces contents and defines the related concepts. Mainly explained the research background,the goal,significance,methods to point out the necessary about studying the environmental special sign design in the public institution for the elders.The second part is the focus of the contents.This section through earlier stage’s investigation to know the requirements of the elders lived in old-age care institutions.It aims at making suggestions about building a universal environmental special sign design combined with the theory of psychology,praxiology,gerontology, architecture and so on.By optimizing the design about a real case to prove and clarify the methods further.The third part is the summary and prospect of this thesis.From three terms of perception experience,which includes objects experience, spatial experience and time experience, generalizing the universal environmental special sign design applies both normal and visual or hearing disordered elderly people.Main conclusions:1.The normal eldersUsing the lightness as the main gauge to choice materials and color in the space. Reducing the use of high reflection materials,for instance,taking the place of marble floor,using the PVC flooring.To clear the boundaries of space and to choice different color and materials reminding elderly attention-Avoiding to use high purity color in the space,white and pink are optional.The perception distance need to be considered during sign design.The font height should be 15pt when people up close to see the sign and the value is greater than 28pt from a distance.The chinese character has an aspect ratio of 3:2 or 4:3,the word space at least 0.25 times or more and the single-spaced greater thanl/3 as its height.We may choose a suitable font style such as Song typeface,boldface.Plane surface is better than line in graphical signs design.The elders are fond of warning tone and voice to help them set up visual cognition.Meanwhile,with a back shape,groups of space are connected by traffic lines which is good for elders.2.Visual or hearing disordered eldersThe braille orientation is indispensable to elders on the handrails,wall space and so on. We can increase the size of braille alphabet to 10mm,select nice touch materials such as rubber.Combining the warning tone,lights,vibration of electronic bracelet,LED screen to build a intelligent guidance system,maybe use the smell release from plant or air freshener can distinguish different space in the future.By means of macro-perspective,the paper try to analyze in the general as far as possible. Attempting to providing some advises about elderly-oriented care in the public facilities for the elders.
