Study On Risk Management For Ship Design Process

Ship design is a highly technical and more binding work, and it may be encountered risks from all aspects in the design process. At present, some ship design institutes are still poor awareness of the phenomenon of risk, and most of the institutes have not yet introduced the concept of risk management. Therefore, strengthening risk management in the process of ship design which can prevent serious accidents has become an inevitable unit management requirements and trends.Based on the traditional theory of risk analysis and evaluation, a risk assessment system on ship design process is established. Fault tree method is used in the design process to identify all risks, including the ship design units from the ship itself, classification societies, shipyards, ship owners, equipment suppliers and so on. The relative risk index method is combined with expert scoring method to estimates risks from ship design process qualitatively and quantitatively, and then the various sources of risk are sorted. Ultimately more serious risks factors consequences are identified, and can propose a reference for the ship design units to develop appropriate risk control measures.In the risk management of ship design process, risk prevention barrier model and control system based on Loss Causation Model combined with the Swiss Cheese Model is established, which can be divided into five modules, including the design of professional and technical staff risk prevention system, staff turnover risk management system, the personnel risk prevention barrier design and optimization of performance evaluation based on risk management personnel and other risk coping strategies. Ultimately the risk of ship design process can be effectively controlled, and technical support can be provided for risk management.
