With the development of nuclear technology and the incessant research into the nuclear safety issues, people gradually realize that, the methods to cope with the station blackout (SBO) should be thought over during the designing stage of the nuclear power plant, and there should be more methods of solving SBO for the built and operating nuclear power plant.Taking Daya Bay and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station as the research's object, this subject focuses on the specific characteristics of the built and operating nuclear station, and discusses the necessity of alternate ac sources (AAC) to deal with SBO from aspects like criterions, feedbacks from other country's experience, and the function of AAC. From location, type, capacity, power supply for assistant systems, interface with the existing station systems, and also the possibility of sharing one AAC by the Daya Bay and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station, it displays the feasibility of setting up one Diesel-generator unit as one method of solving SBO for both stations, and also evaluates the project's investment and its building period and so on. To construct an additional diesel generator unit for Daya Bay and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station, can not only satisfy the requirement with the alternate ac source in nuclear plant for safety, but also perform the emergency diesel generators maintenance on-line and reduces the workload for maintenance during refueling outages, and improve the availability ratio of the Units. The conclusion of the subject can not only be taken as the reasons for further increasing AAC for Daya Bay and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station, but also as an reference to building AAC by other stations.
