However, among all these factors, the influence of natural resources to the formation and development of urban spatial form is irreplaceable.As a main part of urban ecological system, lake plays an important guiding role in the formation of urban layout, spatial structure and urban texture due to its water supply function, defensive function, ecological function, cultural function and recreational function. In turn, the development of urban form can also accelerate or restrict the development of urban lake. In other words, the relationship of urban and lake in different periods is definitely the result of the game between lake evolution and urban development.The paper introduces the source of the subject, discuss the purpose and significance of the study, the objectives and content of the study, the methods and technical route, the research on the relation between city and lake in foreign country; Second, the paper presented the interactions between urban spatial form and lake in different stages, and then uncovered the mechanisms of interaction of city and lake from the complicated representation. Third, a positive analysis of the interaction of urban spatial form of Wuhan city and East Lake is involved, and at the same time, attests the previous conclusion. At last, the paper reflects on the present condition between urban spatial form and lake. Emphasizing the important role of the nature in the development of cities, the paper stresses philosophically that it is vital to take actions that suit local circumstances.
