In grain processing and logistic industry, the most outstanding dust overflow position is grain tipping pit. So the proper dust collecting measures taken at grain tipping pit is crucial for facilities to reach environmental protection regulations. At present, little attention has been paid on dust collecting issues at grain tipping pit in domestic grain handling industry. The practical effect of dust collecting systems is still not satisfying the requirements due to the improper design, installation and maintenance of dust collecting systems.In this article, according to the ingredients properties of corn starch plant, proper selection of dust collecting equipments and application of two-stage dust collecting system should be considered during tipping pit design. Furthermore, in the first-stage dust collecting system, the clearance between air lock, fixed at outlet of cyclone, paddles tip and interior wall shall be less than 0.1mm. And high pressure pulse dust collectors shall be selected as the equipments for second-stage dust collecting. The practical dust diffusion area shall be as the index for air flow calculation, instead of the total area of tipping pit and section area of air suction hood.The above principles have been applied and reached ideal performance while the upgrading of tipping pit dust collecting system for first-stage project and the designing of tipping pit dust collecting system for second-stage project.
