The development of society, economy and culture takes great changes to the residents'consuming ideas. Tourism, as a high level and a new pattern of consumptive fashion, is beingaccepted by more and more Chinese people. The giant tourist market, combined with the seasonalfeature of tourism activity, makes a lot of tourism destinations bear overload pressure. It bringsmuch negative influence to continuous development for tourism, such as destruction of ecologicalenvironment, damage of tourist facilities and old buildings, accidents happening frequentlyetc. How to coordinate the relationship between the development of tourism and the ecologicalenvironment in the development of tourism, how to harmonize human activities with the naturalenvironment and how to realize the continuous use of tourism resources together with thesustainable tourism has received great attention from the academic field of tourism. We believe thata scientific definition of Tourism environmental bearing capacity (TEBC) and strictimplementations are the keys to solving the existing problems.TEBC is a concept to describe the threshold of environment system supporting the touristactivities in tourism destinations. TEBC is a technological tool based on microscopic study, whichis always used in the planning and management of tourism destination. The practical value ofTEBC lies in its ability to preserve the natural environment, economic environment and socialenvironment of tourism destination from destruction of tourism activity, and at the same timeguarantee the tourists' satisfaction during their sightseeing.If TEBC was looked as a function, there are several parameters, such as time, space and thecategory or intensity of tourists' activities, and that is to say, the study of TEBC must be combinedwith a territory unit. Based on the theory of TEBC and the application technology, the dissertationhas made a through survey study, choosing Mt.longfengshan scenic area as a case study, and hasmet with fruitful success. To some extent, the study has filled the gap in this field.The article has distributed to five parts as follows:Part one: Introduction. This part analyzed necessity and meaning of research, national andinternational research development status, summarized open questions of research, and planedcontents, methods and technical flow of research.Part two: theoretical research. In chapter 2, the article took overall research to relationalconcepts, basic features, composition and functions of the TEBC of mountain-lake scenic area, and established foundation for establishing the evaluating factor system.Part three: system design. In chapter 3, the article brought forward features, principle, choicemethods and reference of establishing the evaluating factor system, and established the evaluatingfactor system of the TEBC of mountain-lake scenic area by expert inquiry and consultation, whichincluded natural environmental bearing capacity, economic environmental bearing capacity andsocial environmental bearing capacity and consisted of 30 evaluating factors.Part four: evaluation model. In chapter 4, the article confirmed the evaluating indicator weightby Delphi and Analytic hierarchy process, standardized indicator value by extreme-value method,confi-rmed overall evaluation value by the weight evaluating index, and confirmed the grade ofmembers-hip by differential technique and established overall evaluation model finally.Part five: empirical research. In chapter 5, the article calculated the evaluating factors of theTEBC of Mt.longfengshan scenic area and analyzed limiting factors and contributing factors. Inchapter 6, the article designed the TEBC information system on GIS. In chapter 7, the articlebrought forward improved measures of the TEBC of Mt.longfengshan scenic area.
