The World Heritage Site is the valuable wealth of mankind. However, with the rapiddevelopment of tourism in the world, excessive urbanization construction and commercialdevelopment, the eco-geological environment of many World Heritage Sites and theirsurrounding area has been severely damaged. Huangshan Scenic Area is one of the top tenscenic spots in China. As other World Heritage Sites, it has also been caught in thecontradiction between development and protection. Eco-geological environment is the basicconditions for scenic area’s existence, and its sensitivity refers to the sensitive degree ofeco-geological system in response to all kinds of environmental variations and humanactivities, which is used to measure the possibility of ecological imbalance andeco-geological environment problems.“3S” technology (including RS, GIS, GPS), as thecore spatial information technology, can effectively collect, store, manage andcomprehensively analyze the multi-sources data for eco-geological environmentalsensitivity analysis. Now, it has become a main technical means to investigation andanalysis of resources and environment. This thesis is funded by Open Research Fund of Key Laboratory of Digital EarthCenter for Earth Observation and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Science. Based on theprevious studies, a set of indicator system was established from both natural and humanperspectives to analyze the eco-geological environmental sensitivity of Huangshan ScenicArea. And all indicators were extracted and analyzed by "3S" technology. Eco-geologicalenvironment sensitivity of Huangshan Scenic Area was comprehensively analyzed with twomodels which are weighted overlay comprehensive evaluation model of GIS based onAnalytic Hierarchy Process and improved BP Artificial Neural Network model. Temporaland spatial variation characteristics of vegetation coverage of study area were explored byestimation of multi-stage remote sensing images. Finally, some effective measures were putforward to deal with the eco-geological environmental problems possibly appearing inHuangshan Scenic Area according to the analysis results. The main results andunderstanding achieved in this thesis are as follows:1、 The index system and grading standards including geological environment, ecological environment, hydrology, human activity, landscape value and geologic disaster, six categories of influencing factors of12secondary indicators were constructed. Then supported by "3S" technology,12secondary indicators were extracted, and the sixcategories of influencing factors were analyzed respectively. All the results show that thehighly sensitive area of the study area is small, most of the area is low sensitive orinsensitive.2、Two models which were weighted overlay comprehensive evaluation model of GISbased on Analytic Hierarchy Process and improved BP Artificial Neural Network modelwere applied for eco-geological environment sensitivity analysis of Huangshan Scenic Area.Their results were basically the same except the extremely sensitive area. Theeco-geological environment sensitivity of most regions of Huangshan Scenic Area isinsensitivity and low sensitivity. Their proportion of total area is more than98%. Suitabledevelopment of these regions can be allowed, but prevention and control measures shouldbe made ahead. The area ratio of highly sensitive and extremely sensitive areas is less thanone percent. In these places, more commercial development should be forbidden. Themoderate sensitive areas account for less than2%of the total study area. These areas areinfluenced by humans obviously and belong to restricted development zones.3、Vegetation cover and its change is an important indication of the regional ecologicalenvironment changes. To a certain extent, research of dynamic changes of vegetationcoverage of study area based on remote sensing can reflect the characteristics of ecologicalenvironmental changes. Studies show that the vegetation cover is generally good. But insome regions, the vegetation cover degraded areas still exist. The vegetation coverage inhigh altitude areas change more frequently than in low and moderate altitude areas. Sodegraded and improving vegetation coverage areas in high altitude areas are relativelylarger than in low and moderate altitude areas. And the vegetation coverage in low altitudeareas changes more frequently than in moderate altitude areas. But the constant areas ofvegetation coverage in medium altitude areas are above the high and low altitude areas.
