The Southern Mountain Region is a natural ecological barrier of Jinan City. It not only maintains the metabolism of the atmospheric environment of Jinan city , plays the role of the water conservation and supply, but also natural attractions.Since 1990s, with development and the acceleration of urbanization process of the Southern Mountain Region, and continuous improvement of roads, electricity, motor-pumped wells and other infrastructure facilities,tourism started to become the new leading industries in southern mountain regions. However, during the past 30 years, the expanding of Jinan city and the decreasing area of underground water recharge zone, coupled with the needs of local socio-economic development, and disorderly development of rural industry and real estate projects, made a great destroy to the ecological environment. At the moment, a series of ecological problems begans to appear, such as decline of biological diversity, water pollution, erosion and exposure of mountain massif that caused by quarrying. Those problems not only impeded the sustainable development , but also damaged people's impression on the scenic tourist area of the southern mountain region.Through the study of landscape planning theory and individual survey , the paper selected four indicators to evaluate the resources and environmental characteristics of the Scenic Area of the southern mountain region of Jinan city. The four indicators are Landscape Naturalness, Landscape Primary Attraction, landscape sensitivity and Landscape broadness-concealment.Based on the results of the evaluation , the article analysed the present situation of scenic tourist area and gave specific suggestions, for the purpose of the landscape ecological protection and the sustainable development of tourism in southern mountain region.The main contents of the thesis are as follows:Based on building the classification system of land use, using RS and GIS technology, the remote sensing images in 2004 have been interpreted, the land type maps of the research district have been obtained and the land use database have been built.Then divided and consolided a part of the southern mountain region where scenic areas and forest parks are relatively concentrated in according to the river basin. Five areas were selected.(2)According to the reality of the southern mountain region of Jinan city, four indicators were selected.They areLandscape Naturlness, Landscape Primary Attraction, landscape sensitivity and Landscape broadness-concealment.â‘ The results of the Watershed Landscape Naturalness(WLN) shows that A district of North Shahe basin has the highest WLN, whose area of 1st class WLN is 86.86km2 and accounted for 40% of the total area of the watershed, notes that the original forest vegetation cover of the area is in good condition. The south Shahe basin has the lowest WLN, whose 3rd class WLN that formed by man-made landscape accounted for 58% of the total area of watershed, in which arable land only accounts for 36%. It shows that agriculture landscape occupies the dominant position in the south Shahe area. The suggestion is to increase the proportion of the area of 1st WLN, and to turn 3rd class into 2nd class properly to decrease the area of 3rd class of WLN.The measure is returning farmland to forest, the grassland restoration,and afforestation of barren hills.â‘¡The results of the Landscape broadness-concealment(LBC) shows that Jinxiuchuan watershed has the highest LBC. This indicates that the overall landscape of the watershed are quite secluded secret. Nanshahe watershed has the lowest LBC, indicates that the overall landscape of the watershed are quite open. So this paper gave the suggestion that the activities in the lower LBC area should be more dynamic and more suitable for people's aggregation.â‘¢The results of the evaluation on Landscape Primary Attraction(LPA) shows that the Yaoxiang National Forest Park has the highest LPA. The results were based on rating the pictures of the selected scenic spots and forest parks in the way of slide show. According to the result in different emphases, the thesis gave proposed countermeasures.â‘£Landscape Sensitivity evaluation is about Sensitivity in sight view.According to the pictures and figures that caculated by software of ARCMAP, the thesis classified the five area separately into 3 levels on Landscape Sensitivity, and gave the corresponding suggestion of protection measures for each level in each area.(3)At the end of the thesis, principle for landscape ecological planning were listed and suggestions for the all southern mountain region were proposed.
