Senior high school students are in a critical period during which the spatial concept and laws as well as the causal relationship in space begin to form in their mind. In those aspects, map plays an indispensible role. Therefore, the effective teaching guidance in spatial cognition will be of great importance to the development of students'geographical skills and other related skills as well as the ability to solve spatial problems.Based on the features of the map spatial cognition, this research starts from the general process of map cognition. Through the examination of map-related questions, this research aims to analyze the psychological features and process in map spatial cognition. The results have shown that the map spatial cognition process of high school students is in accordance with the general laws of human beings, but at the same time manifests its own characteristics, that is it has a clear purpose in cognitive process, clear-cut division of two forms in cognition and appropriate reasoning in the process. It is also been proved that the cognitive process is an advanced one, and the inaccuracy exists in issue proposing and analysis.This thesis has systematically put forward some targeted strategies for guiding senior high school students in better comprehending spatial maps, aiming to develop their ability and promote geography teaching.
