Today with the unprecedented development of information technique and digital technology, the symbols designed for the public weather service in megalopolises, cannot well meet the various demands for social progress and civil living improvement in aspects of their extent of precisionization, specialization and personalization. Supervision, obscurity are the main problems which need to be solved in the research process. It is very important and immediate to pay attention to the research on the symbol catalog of public weather service.Meteorological symbol design is tend to be greatly influenced by the transformation of information medium. Making the ordinary masses easily understand and accept is the significant research direction on the public weather information communication. It is important to be solved to transform the special metrological info-service which based on audio-visual language into popular and vivid graphic style leading to an acceptable, understandable and operable usage purpose for the masses.Based on the user-oriented conception, this paper suggests the approach to design the meteorological symbols for pubic service. By studying domestic reach on it for pubic service, the principles of graphic symbol, visual perception, information transmission, an investigation has been taken to compare the meteorological symbols between home and abroad. It summarized a set of design principles and practical examples of the meteorological symbol catalog for pubic service.A questionnaire survey about satisfaction degree of the meteorological symbols' practical examples has been taken, whose result was come back to check the effectiveness of the design.
