The Present Evaluation Of Plant Diversity In Urumqi

This study took the wild plants and cultivated plants of Urumqi as studying aims. Applying of knowledges of phytogeorgraphy, resource plant and conservation biology, this paper have studied floristic elements, geographical elements of family and genus, the unique phenomenon, life forms and ecological types, vegetation types and resource value. Diversity index, exotic plant invasion risk assessment, comparative method and so forth were used to evaluate the diversity of the city of Urumqi. The results are as follows:There are 1402 species of seed plants in research zone, which belong to 603 genera and 127 families, and angiosperm is dominated in the survey area. There are 6 families, 11 generas and 15 variants, which distribute mainly in the north temperate zone. It is contained 242 medicinal plants, 142 forage plants, 19 honey plants, 151 plants for sand fixation and water and soil conservation, 380 ornamental plants, 86 poisonous plants, 12 green manure plants, 91 environmental purification plants in Urumqi.There are 42 local endemic species and 56 rare and endangered plants in this area The perennial herbaceous plants are dominant in life form of wild plants, but the ecological type of wild plants is mainly composed of xerophyte, while cultivated plants are deciduous plants, mesophyte, drought enduring plants, hardy plants, heliophilous plants.According to some relevant research results, Urumqi natural vegetation community were divided into 7 vegetation types group, 15 vegetation types, 84 formations. Thus, vertical distribution of communities was obvious, which divided 8 altitudinal zonations, but horizontal distribution was not obvious. The coniferous forest communities are the largest community type in the richness and evenness, while the alpinetalus vegetation, desertification vegetation are the lowest distributing of all communities around Urumqi. Indigenous plants are rared used in landscape planting form analysising the diversity of wild plant communities in Urumqi. The assessment of exotic plant invasion risk for common garden plants revealed that 16 kinds of plants, such as P.quinqueffolia and P.quinqueffolia, should be strengthen the management and monitoring growth. The plant species is rich in Urumqi, but the proportion of the arbor and shrub is rather less, while alien species occupied a fairly large proportion. That is not good at sustainable development of urban landscape and ecosystem. Although the area of greening in Urumqi is gradually increasing, per capita is not large, and coverage rate decreases because the rate of greening is lower than urbanization."List of wild plants in Urumqi" and " List of cultivated plants in Urumqi " is compiled.
