The study of vegetation types and plant diversity is the basis for the protection and rational utilization of plant resources.Taking the northern region of Yinshan Mountain as the research area, the ecological method and sampling method were used to determine the vegetation types, analyze the plant species composition and plant diversity characteristics,so as to provide the basis for the protection and utilization of regional vegetation and the construction of China desert plant community database,To provide data support for compiling the atlas of desert plant communities in China. The results show that:(1)The vegetation types in northern Yinshan can be divided into 2vegetation types,6 vegetation subtypes,9 formations,23 formations and 265 associations. The Reaumuria soongorica desert is the main formation in the desert, with 43 sampling points in 265 survey points, accounting for 16.23%of all survey points, followed by Salsola passerina, with 37 sampling points, accounting for 13.96% of all survey points.Stipa breviflora was the most vegetation in grassland, accounting for 7.92% of the total number of clumps, followed by Stipa gobica, accounting for 6.42%.(2)There are 244 species of seed plants in this area, belonging to 35 families and 126 genera. The dominant families were Compositae,Fabaceae,Chenopodiaceae and Poaceae, accounting for 11.43% of the total families, including 140 species of 65 genera, accounting for 51.59% of the total genera and 57.38% of the total species respectively. The dominant genera were Artemisia,Stipa,Allium and Caragana, with more than 5 species, accounting for 18.00% of all species.(3)50.00% of the life forms were perennial herbs, followed by 40 annual herbs, accounting for 16.39% of the species. The water ecotype was mainly xerophytes, followed by mesophytes, accounting for 33.20% and 27.05%respectively.The adaptability of plant leaf morphology was mainly strip leaf, followed by lanceolate leaf, with 53 species and 44 species, accounting for21.72% and 18.03% respectively.(4)The distribution types of families can be divided into 5 distribution types and 3 distribution forms, with world distribution as the main body, accounting for 60.00% of the total families and 81.97% of the total species;genera can be divided into 13 types and 8 forms, with temperate distribution as the main body, accounting for 47.61% of the total genera and 56.97% of the total species. The number of Mongolian seed plants is the largest, accounting for 15.57% of the total species in the flora; The second is the East Asian type, accounting for 13.93% of the total flora; The third is Gobi species, accounting for 11.89% of the total flora.(5)There are 10 species of national key protected plants in the area, including 2 species of Tetraena mongolica,2 species of Ranunculus senticosus,8 species of Ephedra Sinica,Ammopiptanthus mongolicus and 3species endemic to China, which are Ceratoides arborescens,Dendranthema morifolium and Tetraena mongolicus. There are 14 species of protected plants in Inner Mongolia, including 5 species of grade I protected plants,4 species of grade II protected plants and 5 species of grade III protected plants.(6)The results showed that: the Shannon Wiener diversity index(H)of desert vegetation was positively correlated with Margalef richness index,Pielou evenness index(E)and Margalef richness index with Pielou evenness index;the Shannon Wiener diversity index of grassland vegetation was positively correlated with Margalef richness index and Pielou evenness index Margalef richness index was negatively correlated with Pielou evenness index.
