Combining the GIS and the tourisminformation system is the development trend of the tourism management. GIS based on thecomponents is a new product with the trend of software changing components, that providespowerful Propelling force for the development of GIS and affects the technical structure andthe application mode of GIS.This article is precisely under such background, it uses VB6.0 as the developmentplatform, SQL Server2000 as the backstage database as well as the MapObject2.3 and the GISmodules to construct the tourism information system of Changchun city. This system hasrealized the majority functions of GIS such as the layer management, map browsing includingzoom in, zoom out, pan, and the eagle-eyed function, in addition, it also supports the attributeinformation and spatial information query, the multimedia broadcasts. These functions cansupply comprehensively, accurate, complete, the detailed information for the users.
