The plant community and distribution of rare and endangered plants in Gansu Liancheng national nature reserve have been investigated by means of stratified random sampling.Based on the data of field investigation and forestry resource survey, the author described the characteristics of main forest community, analyzed plant species diversity and conservation priority of associations and subcompartment, the main conclusions as following:(1) The main forest community were Form.Picea crassifolia, Form.P. wilsonii, Form.Sabina przewalskii, Form. Pinus tabulaeformis, Form.Betula platyphylla, Form.Populus davidiana, Form.B. albo-sinensis, and Form.B. utilis in Liancheng nature reserve. The species diversity were lowest in tree layers, the medium in shrub layers, the highest in herb layers. With increasing altitude,αindex of the main forest community in shrub layers and herb layers increases first, then declined, but no clear trend in tree layers.(2) The correlation analysis of the layer dominant plants of associations and rare and endangered plants has been studied. The Conservation Priority of associations have been studied by calculating protect important value of them. Ass. Sabina przewalskii-Potentilla glabra-Saussurea parviflora, Ass. S. przewalskii-P. glabra-Parasenecio roborowskii, Ass. Picea wilsonii-Sorbus koehneana-Carex lancifolia, Ass. P. wilsonii+Populus davidiana-Lonicera tangutica-Roegneria nutans and Ass. P. davidiana-Berberis kansuensis-R. nutans, etc. 24 associations have the highest conservation value.(3) The distribution of rare and endangered plants and the key protected plant community in nature reserve were studied by analyzing data of forestry resource survey. As a result of the study, 412 subcompartments have been thought as the first area and 397 subcompartments have been thought as the second area in Liancheng nature reserve. On this basis, suggestions on how to plan nature conservation spots and tourism development were given.
