West Erdos National nature reserve lies in the edge of the west of Erdosplateau. It is a all-around nature reserve that include preservation ofendangered plant, various grassland and desert ecosystem. It is a extremelygood place to study the origin, development, evolvement of species, a raregood material of study such multi-disciplinary as paleontology, ancientgeography, a key area to study bio-diversity and the whole world change inaridly area of Asia.This text regards West Erdos national nature reserve of Erdos city as theresearch object, utilize the many wave bands remote sensing image picture ofresolution ratio of 30 meters TM of U. S. A. Landsat5 land satellite, June1,2005, 1:50,000 topographic maps, 1: 400,000 soil map and 1:500,000geologic map, administrative map, etc. and relevant written historicalmaterials, utilize 3S technology, have solved and translated the mainvegetation type, have carried on the 3D simulation of grourid, have analyzedrelationship distribution of the rare plant Tetraena mongolica andHelianthemum songaricum with soil and topography, based on theunreasonable function zoning of this nature reserve, offer the suggestion ofadjusting, in order to solve contradiction of conservation of nature with localeconomic development, suggested proper developing eco-tour.In this research, use the software of remote sensing ERDAS IMAGINE8.6, carry on the supervision classification to TM picture, solve and translatethe main vegetation type in the nature reserve automatically, train samplesfrom through the global positioning system (GPS), the vegetation type writtendown on the spot. Use software of remote sensing ENVI4.0, has carried on 3D simulation of earth's surface, analyzed relationship of distribution of therare plant Tetraena mongolica, Helianthemum songaricum with soil andtopography in nature reserve. Use software Arcview3.3 to carry ondigitization to the map, analyzed rare plant Tetraena mongolica andHelianthemum songaricum relation with soil, have plot out the function zoneof nature reserve, has outputted various kinds of maps.The result of study shows: The global positioning system (GPS) can takea orientation accurately in the vegetation type field investigation of naturereserve, offer the sample of training for translating the remote sensing picture.Utilize TM remote sensing picture carry on supervision classify, can dividerare plant Tetranea mongolica and helianthemum songaricum and other mainplant community distribution. Geography information system (GIS)technology can make digital map, can easily show and see about maps, can dospace analysis, divided function zone of nature reserve. The 3S technology ismore timesaving and laborsaving than traditional way, is a potent instrumentin study of the nature reserve.
