Studying Characteristics of Geared Students in Higher TechnicalColleges And the Corresponding Teaching ResearchHigher education has entered into the age of popularization.Since 1998, higher technical education has developed at a rapid speedand has been an important part of the higher education. As acomponential part (the other part includes students from general middleschools), geared students (from secondary schools) don't take a greatproportion in higher technical colleges. However, because of differentmode of education they received in secondary schools, compared withthose from middle schools, they take on many differences in knowledgefoundation, studying characteristics, and problem comprehensionway, problem to resolve the method, especially in the subject ofmathematics.Based on the analysis of final-test-paper for two classes of gearedstudents admitted to our college in 2005-2006 a semester, on thestatistics of the test results, and on the investigation and analysis of thetheir studying characteristics in mathematics, and the comprehension ofmathematics the method of problem to resolve etc. the main points ofsuch characteristics are concluded as following:1) Their numeracy is generally weak before entering college, thethought mode is inflexible and their understanding of math's conceptsand formulae is superficial, staying around original formula to the usageof the formula of concrete formality at the level of form;2) Their cognitive structure (graphic formula) is incomplete,separated and disordered;3) Their concrete and numerical numeracy are considerablystronger than format and letter numeracy;4) They require a certain amount of exercises in class;5) They lack thought span;6) They are of predisposition with likeness mimicry;7) They lack Meta knowledge;8) There are some problems in studying attitudes and methods.Therefore, it can be concluded that the proximity development area at present covers numerical numeracy, concrete numeracy, and thoughtspan, the mode of decompounding—integration in understanding aretheir studying characteristics in mathematics and the classroomoperation practice is of important characteristic they study mathematicscurrently. On such basis, the author researches the characteristic of threemodels: teaching model with examples, corresponding teaching modeland the procedure frame diagram ~1teaching model. In the meanwhile,teaching experiments are done in terms of the three models and theirweak points are pointed out.
