The present paper is a thesis for the degree of MS, which deals with the taxonomy and multi- plicity of the Trichoptera from Altai area of Xinjiang. In this thesis, investigation significance, history and the present situation in overseas and domestic, the general morphological and biological characters of Trichoptera are given. Firstly we studied on taxonomy, multiplicity and population dynamics of the Trichoptera from Altai area of Xinjiang. The results were concluded as follow:1. We appraised and described 9 species belonging to 4 families(Hydropsychidae, Leptoceridae, Lepidostomatidae, Stenopsychidea). They included 2 new record species (Lepidostoma hirtum Febricius, Potamyia czekanowskii Martynov) and 4 Xinjiang new records (Setodes pulcher Martinov, Mystacides dentatus Martinov,Oecetis ochracea Curtis, Aethaloptera evanesens McLachlan). All description are attached to drawing of morphological characters. The types of species are deposited in Insect Collection of College Agriculture of Shihezi University.2. In north of Tianshan mountains, there are 7 families, 16 species of Trichoptera, the dominant families are Leptoceridae,Hydropsychidae and Lepidostomatidae, the dominant species are Potamyia czekanowskii Martynov and Apataniana impexa Schmid. In Altai area of Xinjiang, there are 4 families, 9 species of Trichoptera, the dominant families are Hydropsychidae and Leptoceridae, the dominant species are Potamyia czekanowskii Martynov and Stenopsyche marmorata Navas.3. By similarity analysis, we discovered that Buerjin river and Keziwuyongke were second similar, Haba river and Buerjin river were extremely dissimilar, Haba river and Kanas were extremely dissimilar, Haba river and Keziwuyongke were dissimilar, Buerjin river and Kanas were extremely dissimilar, Keziwuyongke and Kanas were extremely dissimilar. The north of Tianshan mountains and the Altai area of Xinjiang were extremely dissimilar.4. The differences of species richness, ecological dominance, diversity and evenness are not remarkable between the north of Tianshan mountains and the Altai area of Xinjiang. In the Altai area of Xinjiang, Haba river, Buerjin river, Kanas and Keziwuyongke are difference in community character, the species richness, diversity and evenness of Haba river are maximal, Buerjin river is minimal.
