A new-round reform of basic education courses has been made in our country with brand-new ideas of being oriented towards all the students, improving students' scientific qualities and advocating inquiry study. The students in five-year secondary teachers' school will be teachers of primary school. A practical problem facing secondary teachers' school is whether its graduates own comprehensive qualities required by modern society, and whether they will be able to play significant roles in the reform of basic education courses. As the focus of science in the future has transferred to life science, biology course plays a vital role in cultivating primary school teachers with comprehensive qualities. More and more people are paying attention to biology course. It is being challenged seriously. A set of excellent biology textbook suitable for students in secondary teachers' school is important to train teachers for primary schools with high scientific qualities. Under new circumstances, the current biology textbook needs further revising and improving because of its obvious weak.By analyzing the biology textbook adopted by five-year secondary teachers' school, the thesis puts forwards suitable proposals on the modifications of the textbook so as to further improve it .The research is carried out by collecting dynamic and static materials of the textbook, then, applying the statistical soft system of Spss 11.5 for windows to analyze the materials. We have made the following conclusions. The most prominent characteristics of the textbook is that it covers rich contents of thought and culture. It lays stress on basic knowledge and training of basic skills. It pays attention to helping students set dialectical materialism point of view in nature. It emphasizes the idea of sustainable development. There is infiltration of education about scientific methods and STS in the textbook.
