Research On Land Sustainable Utilization Based On GIS

The land resource is one of the material bases, which the mankind depends onfor existence and development. All the global problems of population, resource andenvironmental issue are closely related to rareness of the land resource, and theyconcentrate to embody the pressure of population growth on the land resource. Landresource concerns not only us, but also the descendants. The sustainabledevelopment strategy should be carried out in land exploring and utilizing.The sustainable utilization of land resource is the fundament of regionaldevelopment, and is one of the nuclear content of the regional sustainabledevelopment strategy. It has significant meaning to the developments of society andeconomy. Land sustainable utilization evaluation integrates organically landsuitability evaluation, land potential evaluation and land ecologic economyevaluation and studies the changing tendency. Therefore, land sustainable utilizationevaluaion not only values the present utilization of land, but also the futureutilization of land. Land sustainable utilization evaluation aims to study therelationship between the land utilization system and the outside factors, and to valuethe land resource. It is different from the land programming and the land sustainableutilization management. It analyses the natural, economic and social attributes of theland utilization, scale the degree of land sustainable utilization. It finds the problemsof the current land utilization system, the influence of land management measures toland sustainable utilization, and then it offers the gist for perfecting the landutilization programming, improving the land utilization management and realizingthe land sustainable utilization.The author surveys the domestic and foreign studies of the land sustainableutilization. Based on the land data of Kashgar region from 1990 to 2003, shechooses 13 indexes that relate to land utilization and constructs the indexes systemof land utilization evaluation. She quantitatively analyses the land utilizationsustainable degree of every counties and cities each year, and lists the sustainabledevelopment degree from high to low of every counties and cities.
