Studying spatial patterns is one of the key components in spatial analysis of GIS.Spatial Patterns refers to the arrangement of spatial elements in space, i.e.,the mosaic configuration of spatial elements, which reflects the heterogeneity of spatial and is the result of various spatial elements at various scales. The purpose of spatial pattern studies is to find potentially meaningful rules from seemingly random spatial.Based on 4 terrain map(1: 10000), 4 aerial photographs of 0.6 meters resolution through orthprojection rectity and inventory data, combining vegetation ,disturbance and genesis features,3 spatial types were divided in Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, Guangdong Province.Supported by the GIS software Arclnfo ,the spatial pattern of the region was analyzed and assessed using spatial analysis methods. The indices were calculated such as the size of patches, fractal dimension of patches, diversity, dominance, fragmentation, nearest neighbor index.Applying spatial analysis techniques and AHP methods to assess the comprehensive effect of spatial patterns of Botanic Garden and qualitative effect of spatial elements .The result showed that spatial types of the study area was plentiful and well- distributed. The spatial types has the higher diversity and well-distributed, the lower fragmentation and dominance .This study paved a way for the planning of the sustainable management and the protection of the bio-diversity .
