As we know,our country has a long history, and rich resources of ancient maps. Especially with the introduction of western science cartography, in the early Qing dynasty a massive mapping, finished series measured map. During the period of the republic of Beiyang government and Nanjing government, both pay attention to the mapping and accomplished a great deal of outfit. 5 to 1:200000 etc scale maps. Compared with classic freehand brushwork map, these measured map has preserved rich and accurate historical geography information, which reflects the contemporary social needs and technology level, at present the settlements, administrative and traffic condition, are the precious historical research literature. To effectively protect ancient map resources, with its arrangement, scanning and digitization is a necessary job. From the development of GIS technology for ancient map fully utilize provides effective means. However, considering the ancient map of precision and quality, we should make full use of modem map resources, in spite of still facing a lot of technical challenges.Based on early minguo million maps of henan province as an example, the attempt to use WebGIS technology, through network releases the ancient map service, and with the help of modern map integration, exploring ancient map network is becoming more and more necessary. Here are the main research contents : 1) ancient map data management and Web service design; 2) in network environment, ancient map data issued, the query, map visualization and edit revised study; 3) ancient map and modern map integration, applied research.
