Study On The Construction Of Overseas Chinese Hometown Under The Overseas Chinese Effect In Jiangmen Area

The dissertation is the interdisciplinary research of overseas Chinese history and architecture & urban history. Based on overseas Chinese history, the dissertation takes the traditional overseas Chinese hometown Jiangmen area in Pearl River Delta as example, takes the overseas Chinese effect as the clews, and then through plenty of historical materials and statistics, analyses the impact on overseas Chinese hometown's construction by overseas Chinese effect, from which reveals the characteristics and the rules of the relationship between overseas Chinese effect and overseas Chinese Hometown's construction.The dissertation is divided into seven parts, Chapter II to Chapter VII is the focus of the article. The dissertation with "Total - Sub - Total" the overall structure discusses the impact on overseas Chinese hometown's construction by overseas Chinese effect. The main contents of each chapter are as fellows:Chapter I is exordium, introduces the main purpose and significance of the study, former researches, the research scope, the contents and methods, and the key concepts.Chapter II is the theoretical summary of the relationship between overseas Chinese effect and overseas Chinese hometown's construction. Based on the study of overseas Chinese history, the dissertation analyses the temporal characteristics and the spatial characteristics of the impact on overseas Chinese hometown's construction by overseas Chinese effect, and then theoretically summarizes the temporal-spatial law of it, and summaries the several main aspects of overseas Chinese hometown's construction under overseas Chinese effect.Chapter III to Chapter VI are about the discusstion of overseas Chinese hometown's construction in detail. The actual work is to analyzes what had changed in overseas Chinese hometown's construction under overseas Chinese effect. Chapter III discusses the changes of rural materials construction, including fairs, villages, and vernacular residence; Chapter IV discusses the changes of urban material contruction, including the urban function and spatial pattern, the model of urban spatial expansion, the new-type urban construction, the construction of public facilities as well as the morphological characteristics of urban overseas Chinese hometown; Chapter V analyses the changes of urban construction in regional level under the effect of overseas Chinese investment in transportation. Taking the Sunning Railway for example, the dissertation discusses the changes of the towns along the railway line, including the number and the scale of market towns, the layout and the commercial development of market towns, the commercial grade differences and the commercial grade system of market towns and so on; Chapter VI discusses the impact on economic development of Jiangmen by overseas Chinese after reform and opening. The dissertation begins with the background of the change of domestic and abroad situation before and after reform and opening, and discusses the change of the relationship between overseas Chinese and our country after reform and opening, and thus lead to the changes of overseas Chinese effect on their hometown's construction, that is, economic investment became the primary effect of overseas Chinese after reform and opening. Then based on the economic data calendar year, the dissertation analyses the temporal-spatial law of economic development in Jiangmen and its surrounding areas by overseas Chinese effect after reform and opening, at last, summaries the impact on economic development by overseas Chinese effect.Chapter VII is not only a summary of previous discusstion, but also the theoretical summary of the domino offect of overseas Chinese effect and the result of overseas Chinese hometown's transition. This chapter summarizes the domino effects of overseas Chinese effect as commercial domino effect, charitable domino effect and cultural domino effect, and then discusses the overseas Chinese hometown's transition under those domino effects.The dissertation is the interdisciplinary studies between overseas Chinese history and architectural & urban history. Based on architectural & urban history, from modern to contemporary, from rural to ruban and then to region, from material to non-material, the dissertation clarifies the context of the relationship between overseas Chinese and their hometown's construction. Through a comprehensive and theoretical study, on one hand, the dissertation is to enrich and improve the theory of modern urban history, on the other hand, in response to the call of Guangdong Province's strategic goal of building a cultural province, the dissertation is to provinde a theoretical basis for excavating more human resources, and the historical reference for today's overseas Chinese hometowns setting down strategic goals which is benefit for the long-term relationship between overseas Chinese and their hometowns.
