Economic Development Of Guangdong And Utilization Of Overseas Chinese Business Network In Southeast Asia

As the implementation frontier of Chinese Reform and Opening policy,Guangdong has established a tight and extensive economic relationship with overseas,and importantly, shaped an external-oriented economic structure which faces the developed countries or districts such as Europe,America and so on.With the change in international economic and trade situation,especially the recent international financial tsunami,development of external-oriented economy of Guangdong province has entered a bottle-neck stage since 2007. Seeking new partners and markets has become the problem which cries for settlement.During the 30-year's development,a special factor related to the development of Guangdong province has always been implied.That is the Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asia.Compared to utilization of traditional economic restionship with European,American,research and utilization of Overseas Chinese Buisness Networks is far from sufficient.The theory of Resource-based View is a new viewpoint in the field of strategic management,which stresses that the firms should seek the sources of competitive edges from themselves.Based on the systematic review of RBV and its connotation and extension,this paper will use a "Resource—Strategy" category to analyze the come-into-being mechanism,sorts and charactcristics of Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian.It is suggested that through the perspectives of the history,the current situation and the future of Guangdong's economic development,resource of Overseas Chinese Bisiness Networks in Southeast Asian should be a new dependence of Guangdong province since its dependence on European and American has entered a bottle-neck stage.By implying the Resource-based View theory,analysis structures were established firstly, and then discussion on connotation and extension as well as the theoretical base of RBV were put forward.After that,connotation and extension of Overseas Chinese Business Networks, relations between RBV and the utilization of Overseas Chinese Business Networks were defined.Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asia was considered a unique endogenous resource for Guangdong province,and therefore it should be seen as a strategic resource which is important to the economic development of Guangdong province. History and current situation of the Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian,and utilization of it in Guangdong were analysed.Based on the RBV theory,emphases were put on utilization of Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian and its strategic role in the economic development of Guangdong province.At last,countermeasures of making good use of the resource of Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian were brought forward.It was conclueded that Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian is a unique or heterogeneous resource barrier for Guangdong province to keep its competition by shaping an isolation mechanism in a certain area and to a certain extent,which can be advantages for Guangdong to keep and then extend its external-oriented economic structure. Strengthening the utilization of Overseas Chinese Business Networks in Southeast Asian is a strategic choice for Guangdong province in the coming development stage.
