Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this action research study was to design, implement, analyze, and evaluate a series of interventions to increase the elementary teachers' utilization of the RtI process. Another purpose of the study was to determine the teachers' background knowledge and perceptions about the Responsiveness to Intervention (RtI) process at the research site. The study consisted of a Likert survey, pre-post surveys, and interviews. The results indicated that teachers felt that a lack of time and professional development inhibited the utilization of the RtI process. The study also found that the teachers felt that the RtI process was being mandated by the administration with little support from the administration. The study also found that while teachers did have issues with the RtI process, they were passionate about supporting struggling students.
