Abstract/Summary:
The research proposes an end-to-end standardized approach called the Clone Evaluation and Implementation Mechanism, CEIM, for evaluating a smartphone existing in both the physical and virtualized states. This study extended the prior work by identifying a new approach of analyzing the efficiency of the physical smartphone, as well as that of the virtualized (cloned) smartphone, called the virtual network device (VND), which is hosted in the private and the public Cloud environments. The research conducted benchmark tests in the three environments and then utilized a quantitative approach to analyze the results. The final stage of the process involved calculating and comparing the efficiency scoring, a measure of the device's operational performance using four metrics. The efficiency ranking score not only highlights the best performing device, but guides the user in the selection of the preferred virtualized private or public Cloud for hosting the VND based on their personal requirements and needs. In addition, the efficiency rank can be used to inform the user of a physical smartphone which operating system upgrade or downgrade offers the best performance.
