Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this dissertation is to answer one central question: "What are the components of interpersonal communication needed for single males to build healthy relationships?"; This question will be answered in the three major sections found in this dissertation. Part one (Defining Bridge Building) defines communication from a biblical and linguistic standpoint. Part two (Understanding the Bridge Builder) defines the one who is communicating--that is, the single male. Relevant issues such as the importance of understanding the term "masculinity" or understanding gender differences are presented in this section. Part-three (Building Bridges to the Right Place) defines male friendships and also gives insights into relationships with women. With these three parts, it is hoped that the single male reader will be encouraged to become a "Bridge Builder of the Heart."...
