Abstract/Summary:
Many companies have not assessed the effectiveness of their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) training program. There has been limited literature on assessing the effectiveness of ERP training programs, like SAP. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the SAP training program for the employees at a medium-sized mid-Atlantic medical device manufacturing facility. It is important to conduct an assessment such as this so that companies can identify what issues exist in their respective training programs and determine solutions that can help eliminate these issues and the risks they pose to the company. This study incorporated an intrinsic case study to assess the effectiveness of the SAP training program. Participants were observed while being trained and interviewed following the training. After the data were analyzed, recommendations were developed to help the training department modify their current training program so that the training was more effective at teaching the employees how to use the SAP system.
