Abstract/Summary:
This work proposes an organizational framework for creating a community to share personal health record (PHR) information in the form of a Health Records Social Network (HRSN). The work builds upon existing social network community concepts as well as the existing Systemized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED) model used by the medical community and introduces a formal model for creating such a network. Furthermore, our work also presents the motivation and institutes the theory to normalize the aforementioned formal model. While a dynamic social network will allow sharing of medical data and help enhance awareness within the medical community, concerns will arise regarding the privacy of individual data. We propose effective techniques that lay the groundwork to address these concerns.
