It is often heard and well remembered of the phrase Public entrepreneurship and mass innovation. Innovation is the top driving force to lead development among the five new developing ideas, which contains innovation, concerted, green, open and shared. Therefore human resource is the most important resource to sustain the development. Cultivating innovative talents is the top priority for the current education reform and development. Qualified high schools are encouraged to collaborate with universities to explore the possible ways to cultivate innovative talents, which was stated in Decisions of the State Council on the Reform and Development of Basic Education in 2001. University Affiliated High schools have been shouldering the responsibility of exploring the educational revolution and cutting-edge innovation since their birth. Many those series of high schools carried out pilot experiments on cultivating innovative talents in recent years, and those successful experiences are exemplary for high school reform. However, due to the utilitarianism of the society, fake collaboration and shallow collaboration arise which is diverted to its original purposes. The author reflected on his own principal leadership role in a historical and high performing university affiliated high school. Case study method was used to analyze the system, mechanism, curriculum and teachers development during the processes of the collaborations. After that, the author induced the experience, and interpreted those practice with theory in order to provide meaningful suggestions to improve the collaborations between university affiliated high school and university.At first, the author did literature review on the topic of cultivating innovative talents in Chinese university affiliated high school; the finding shows that almost all these schools did some extent of experiments. However, the way of collaborations varied, the lack of theories to interpret the rich practice; various practice with isomorphic in nature. Therefore, based on the historical review and classified research, the author clarified the subject of this research, brought the university affiliated high school in the big scope of the high school innovative talents cultivation. Four levels were classified, which are the cultivation of innovative talents, the high school innovative talents cultivation, the university affiliated high school innovative talents cultivation, and the deep collaboration between university affiliated high school and university to work together on innovative talents cultivation. This classification enabled us to see the specific value on the role of university affiliated high school on innovative talents cultivation. Meanwhile, the author pointed out the existing problems during the processes of the collaboration, especially in the area of curriculum construction which is the key element. Those analyses provide a foundation for the later chapters.This research systematically explores the current situation of the collaborations between university affiliated high school and the university. There are six collaborations modes consisting of a coordinated process from primary school to university, establishing experimental classes, a linking stage based on Advanced Placement, program advancement led by government, exchange program between high schools and foreign universities and practice of co-establishing resources by high schools and universities are concluded. Also, major problems about these six modes have been pointed out, which include the isomorphism of the collaborations leads to the monotonous pattern. The snobbish attitude toward collaborations leads to the inappropriate participation in the curriculum development, limited selectiveness of curriculum, monotonous curriculum implementation, the narrow path both in talent selection and graduation in terms of exam, assessment and recruiting students. The education was totally test-oriented. Some collaboration is lack of real contents and safeguard mechanism which is not good for sharing the professional teachers. That collaboration is obviously unsustainable.In order to promote a deep collaboration between university affiliated high school and university with those questions arise, this paper is inspired by the Chairman XI Jin-ping’s idea of human being as a community sharing the destiny. The author used a number of concepts and framework, including stakeholder community, responsibility community and destiny community, as well as theories like stakeholder, collaboration and inter-subjectivity to analyze the internal mechanism of the collaboration. After examining the experiences of American university affiliated high schools, and the recent curriculum reform in Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated High School, the author focused on the core questions of cultivating the innovative talents from the perspective of a deep collaboration between university affiliated high school and university. The case study analysis includes the environment of cultivating innovative talents, how to select those talents, how to design the curriculum, how to organize the teaching, how to assess, with the hope of finding the best practices. At last, the author used survey data and real materials to systematically demonstrate the rationality and feasibility of practical mode of innovative talent cultivation carried out by a high school affiliated to university. Such mode is centered on lofty and clarified aims, curriculum construction as the major collaborative platform, and improving the consistency of the culture between university and university affiliated high schools.This research discusses the deep collaborations between university affiliated high school and university from five different perspectives:existing literature, reality, theories, foreign experiences and the author’s own practice. It focuses on the core competencies of innovative talents and demonstrates three conclusions:the common goals for collaboration from the value system, teaching integrates curriculum from the operation system; management and assessment safeguard with each other. Based on this, four points are restated as the practical modes for cultivating innovative talents. Firstly, the core competencies for innovative talents are free minds, conscientious pursuit, and independent exploration. Secondly, featured curriculum is the breakthrough area for the deep collaboration. Thirdly, systematically planning the teaching, moral education and management. Fourth, encouraging university and community to engage in and has clearly positioned itself as a link point between social needs and individual development.Admittedly, cultivating innovative talents is an exploring research topic, despite sorts of criticism, we should set aside the dispute and take the development viewpoint to make efforts to get a result which can be promoted, we should remain theoretically and practically confident through ongoing practice, reflection, learn and do. The university affiliated high school has the mission and responsibility for cultivating innovative talents in basic education. |
