President Xi said only reform can make the long step progress, only innovation can provide the powerful dynamic and only these can win victory.As the economic development of China enters into the new normal, innovation is vital to the transformation and upgrading of China's economy. And the talents are the foundation of innovation, so the country which has the first-class innovative talents has the advantage of technological innovation.In recent years our country attaches great importance to the reform and practice of cultivating innovative talents. As the major carrier of the training talents for our country, universities undertake an important responsibility and mission. So, how to utilize the resources of universities to innovate talent-training model? Is effective of the existing talents training? These are the difficult problems that the contemporary higher education should answer.The paper, starting from the related theories of education, psychology and sociology, etc, regards the Bourdieu's theory of social capital, Austin's theory of student engagement and Bandura's self-efficacy theory as the research basis. Based on the practice of innovative talents cultivation of South China Agricultural University( SCAU), the paper did a questionnaire survey. The survey was conducted among 185 students in honors program and the same major of honors-eligible nonparticipants. Using literature method and combining the questionnaire method, the paper should find the success andshortage of the talents training mode of SCAU and put forward the suggestion to optimize the talents training mode. This paper mainly includes the following six chapters:The first chapter: Introduction. Based on lots of research achievements related to this research, this paper mainly describes the background, purpose and significance of research, literature research review, research thinking and approaches and innovative points of research.The second chapter: Theoretical basis and the definition of related concepts. This part mainly introduce the related theories of this paper,including the Bourdieu's theory of social capital, Austin's theory of student engagement and Bandura's self-efficacy theory. On the basis of these theories,this paper explores the measurement model to measure training effectiveness of innovative talents. In addition, this part also describes the key terms of the paper, including the high level agricultural university, honors program and talent training mode.The third chapter: The construction and operation of SCAU Ding Ying honors program. This part introduces the establishment and development of SCAU Ding Ying honors program, and analyzes the general situation of existing talent training mode, including the purpose of training, curriculum, teaching method,organizational form of teaching and teaching management.The forth chapter: Research design and research results. This part describes the research design, including the compilation of questionnaire,investigate dimension and the option of respondents. The questionnaire survey,conducted among 185 students in honors program and the same major of honors nonparticipants determines differences in background characteristics,academic achievement, student engagement, academic self-efficacy and critical thinking between honors participants and nonparticipants. And the research results show that significant differences were found for two dimensions in which honors participants reported higher likelihood to academic achievementand academic self-efficacy than nonparticipants and other dimensions are no significant difference..The fifth chapter: Analysis and discussion and optimization path. On the basis of the survey results this part found the success and shortage of the talents training mode of SCAU and around the theme of improving student engagement to promote the cultivation of student's innovation abilities to put forward the following four suggestions of optimizing the talents training mode, including "regarding students as the main body and establishing a new relationship between teachers and students", “Promoting researching teaching and pushing forward cooperative learning”,” popularizing micro courses to empower students more choices”,”Based on related system for security and reforming the teaching evaluation”. The paper hopes these suggestions can contribute to the reform of talent training mode of honors program for SCAU and other school, even for honors nonparticipants.The sixth chapter: Summary and forecasting. According to the previous analysis, this part summarize the main conclusions of this paper and bring forward the future research directions.
