Chinese-Korean Language Contact

Language is an important tool for communication and exchange between nations and ethnic groups.There is a long history of exchanges between China and South Korea in various fields,especially the mutually impacts in terms of language.The significant developments of cooperation in many areas have been made between the two countries since 1992,when the establishment of diplomatic relations built.Along with the development of the media industry such as TV and Internet,it has brought new impacts on the contact between Chinese language and Korean language.This paper attempts to make detailed investigation and analysis of the process and result of the languages contact between China and Korean in terms of voice,vocabulary,grammar and text based on the characteristics of Chinese and Korean.Including the introduction,this article is divided into seven parts.The introduction briefly describes the purpose and significance of this paper that summarizes the literatures on general language contact and Sino Korean language contact researches,and it also discusses the causes and types of language contact research and the characteristics of language contact between Chinese and Korean.The first chapter analyzes the close relationship on economy,politics and culture between the two nations.It is to reveal the background of Sino Korean language contact through exploring the cultural exchange process.The second chapter aims on the main characteristics of the two languages as well as reveals the commonalities of the two cultures and the composition of the characters.The rest parts show that the interaction between Chinese and Korean language contact and attempt to explain the influence of the two languages mutual effects on pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar and text.This paper tries to investigate and analyze the problem of language contact between Chinese and Korean from the perspective of sociolinguistics,and it has its own unique contribution,which has achieved innovation on previous researches achievements.The main contributions are:1.The two directions structure of research: It is not only a study on the influence of Chinese on Korean but it also studies the other effects from Korean on Chinese.It could avoid the bias and limitation caused by single direction research.Moreover,this article also aims to explore and analyze the influence of Korean on Chinese in a certain length of time,making up for a gap in previous studies which mostly focused the direction from Chinese on Korean.2.However,the previous researches mainly focus on the influence of the Chinese,the Korean phonetic comparison,literature on Chinese grammar and less on the Korean language study of language contact and not overall depth.This paper could fix on the issue of language contact between Chinese and Korean from the aspects of grammar and text.The results of the study of Chinese and Korean language contact could extend relevant researches in order to make up for the shortcomings in previous studies.
