After the July7Incident, the journalism in Mainland China, especially in the east part of Mainland China, suffered serious damage. Therefore, few Chinese news media reported Nanjing Massacre during the period when it happened, and scarcely was a new medium reporting it found in the east part of Mainland China, except some Chinese newspapers run by foreigners in foreign settlements in Shanghai. This situation is one of reasons Japanese use to deny the existence of Nanjing Massacre. However, it is newly found that Southeast Daily in Zhejiang Province reported Nanjing Massacre fully and systemically. Southeast Daily began to report Nanjing Massacre shortly after Japanese Force made an air raid upon Nanjing in August1937, and continued to do it in the following years, though there were2high tides during its reportage in the war against Japanese aggression. And the recording in Southeast Daily about the commemorative activities in Zhejiang Province at the end of1938is the only one found hitherto in the war against Japanese aggression. Up to now, Southeast Daily is the solo news medium in Mainland China in which there are so many reports about Nanjing Massacre. It will help to refute Japanese quibble, expand the research on Nanjing Massacre, deepen the research on the journalism in Mainland China in the war against Japanese aggression. Meanwhile, it will also provide a good case for the research on historical memory. It is casual for Southeast Daily to report Nanjing Massacre. Southeast Daily was a well-known nationwide news medium. Ever since its initial issue, Southeast Daily kept fighting against Japanese imperialists’policies and actions of aggression against China, and reportage policy lay extra emphasis on southeast part of Mainland China. After the war against Japanese aggression happened, Southeast Daily prepared to withdraw from Hangzhou, and moved to Jinhua, Zhejiang Province before Japanese occupied Hangzhou. Hangzhou version and Jinhua version were slot joint. And it must be pointed out that Southeast Daily stick to work at the front in the war against Japanese aggression. It is considered that Southeast Daily was the only large news medium at the front in the war against Japanese aggression. It made a great contribution to the war against Japanese aggression.
