The disease incidence of Diabetes Mellitus is increasing gradually. Diabetes Mellitus is now the third commonest chronic non-contagious disease following cadiovascular disease and cancer and doing harm to public health. Traditional Chinese medicine play a key role in the prevention and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus by relieving symptoms and signs, inhibitting development process, and treating the complications. This subject is based on the therapeutic principle on Diabetes Mellitus of Professor Wang Can-Hui who is the famous specialist of febrile diseases. The therapeutic effect of sweet-bitter treatment is observed clinically, the infection of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction on Diabetes’rats is observed in animal experiment, and the treatmental action mechanism of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction on Diabetes Mellitus is discussed.Theory Study①The etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of type Ⅱ Diabetes Mellitus according to modern medicine.②The etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation, treatment principle and prescription of type II Diabetes Mellitus according to ancient Traditional Chinese medicine.③Discusstion on the pathogenesis of depressed-heat and Yin-deficiency, clinical manifestation, key points of syndrome differentiation and treatment of sweet-bitter method.④The character of the composition of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction invented by Professor Wang Can-Hui and the action of the herbs.Clinical StudyObjective:To observe the clinical effect of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction on type Ⅱ Diabetes Mellitus of syndrome of depressed-heat and Yin-deficiency.Methods:108patients are divided into3groups:Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group, melbine group and combination group, with36patients in each group. The change of clinical manifestation, blood sugar, blood lipid and etc. is observed. Results:The alleviation of symptoms of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group and combination group is better than melbine group. The effective rate is higher than90%in the alleviation of symptoms of dry mouth, irritability, aversion to heat, overeating and hungry, hot sensation in the five centers, bitter mouth, hot temper and sweating. With the longation of treatment the effect improved in a direct ratio.The3groups all have the effect of lowering blood sugar and there is no stastical difference among them although melbine group and combination group show better effect. The3groups all have the effect of lowering blood lipid. Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group has priority in lowering LDL-C while there is no effect on HDL-C. It is also shown that Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction can regulate fasting insulin. Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group and combination group have better effect in lowering HOMA-IR than melbine group. There is no statistical difference in HOMA-β among the3groups.Conclusion:Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction has the functions of relieving symptoms, lowering blood sugar, lowering blood lipid and improving insulin function.Animal experiment:Objective:To observe the treatment effect of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction on experimental type II diabetes rats. Methods:Experimental type II diabetes rats were established with disposable injection of low dose STZ and high caloie diet. The model rats are divided into3groups:Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group, melbine group and model group. The negative control group are normal rats. After feeding corresponding drugs or saline for1month, the following laboratory subjects are tested:FBG、GSP、GHb、TC、TG、HDL-C、LDL-C.Results:(1) Type II diabetes rats are established successfully.(2) The blood sugar of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group and melbine group decreased after1month. GSP and GHb of Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction group and melbine group were lower than model group.(3) Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction could lower TG while melbine could also decrease TC.(4) Comparing with model group, Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction could decrease LDL-C.Conclusion:Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction and melbine can both lower blood sugar and blood lipid. Qing-Zi-Jiang-Tang decoction has better effect in lowering LDL-C and TG while melbine has better effect in lowering TC.
