Research On The Morphonlogy Of Traditional Village And Architectrural Features In Northern Guangdong

Under the globalization and the impact of urbanization， the traditional villages andancient living architecture are facing a serious challenge and crisis. The North Area inGuangdong plays an important linking role in the development process of Lingnan Culture，becoming the indispensable component of the Five Ridges into Guangdong’s throat， throughits unique location， military and historical migration.Previous studies on the culture of Northern Guangdong Area focused on humangeography，history and culture，folklore，linguistics and regional economic mostly，whileit’s clearly insufficient on the studies about traditional village and local architectural culture.This paper adopts both Studio and live attitude， comprehensive multidisciplinary knowledgeand research results: On the one hand， for historical and cultural characteristics of NorthArea in Guangdong to the ancient road as a starting point for the research site selection andacquisition to provide guidance; On the other hand， through the census survey about thetraditional villages and ancient living architecture in such area， more systematic analysishave been revealed， including the evolution of architectural form and motivation，influencing factors and personality characteristics. Moreover， it’s an intensive study aboutthe protection of architectural culture and traditional villages’ heritage in NorthernGuangdong Area.There are six chapters in this paper. The first is an introduction part， which analyzes thebackground and purpose of research at home and abroad， explained the significance of thisstudying. The regional geographic and cultural characteristics studies in North Area inGuangdong is the main idea in the second chapter， which starting the thinking about militarydefense， immigration and other social and historical aspects as basement. It is a recognitionprocess of the evolution courses and the acting factors in this area. The third chapter is toexplore the process of the formation about the traditional village in North Area inGuangdong， by the clues of the typical sites along the ancient roads. The fourth chapter isthe systematic study of morphology and comparison summary about the traditional village.Chapter Five based on regional origins of different backgrounds and cultures， to explore thespatial composition and architectural，including immigrant culture，clan authority space and defense systems for villages patterns， and then summed up the cultural district in this area.Chapter Six focused the regional differences which based on the relevant comparison alongthe ancient roads， then summed up the division of traditional village culture in the NorthGuangdong Area. The last chapter stated the analysis of current difficulties and problems，proposed the conversation policy of cultural heritage，called for traditional villages should beprotected in a diversity and activating way， with inheritance and utilization immediately.
