History, Present Situation And Strategy

Journalism and Communication education is the product of the development of news media and journalism and communication studies. China’s Journalism and Communication education, experienced a tortuous development process, since the reform and opening up the new coruscate opportunity of survival. China’s colleges and universities recovery of Journalism education from early1980s.The cultivation of talents in colleges and universities of Journalism has been rapid development since Journalism and Communication discipline upgraded to top discipline in1997.At present, Journalism and Communication education has been formed Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan as centers and spread the whole country. Journalism and Communication education focus on integration of journalism and communication, integration of humanities and social science which cultivated a large number of creative talents of Journalism and Communication for Chinese media industry. General speaking, China’s Journalism and Communication education is still in the imitation stage of the developed countries in Europe and America and localization of the exploratory. The lack of deeply rooted in the Chinese media reality and cultural tradition of Chinese Journalism and Communication discipline talents training mode.With the profound impact of globalization, media convergence and digitization on Journalism and Communication education in China:on the one hand, the need of media talents in media convergence era changes and the higher demand for media talents. On the other hand, Journalism and Communication education is facing a bottleneck of high-level talent training, especially lack of excellent and experienced media talents.The Journalism and Communication education of western universities are facing the embarrassment that history is not long, a lack of teachers, not prominent features and homogenization. In the context of western development and the balanced development of education, the universities of western Journalism and Communication education how to highlight the regional characteristics and how to explore their own development strategies for Journalism and Communication education talents training must be urgently solved.The historical context of our country and western Journalism and Communication education was researched from the field of view in Pedagogy, Journalism and Communication, Sociology and other disciplines in this study. On the background of western Journalism and Communication education in the development of the whole country, the study explores the characteristics of the development and changes of the various periods of the western Journalism and Communication education and analysis lead to changes in the historical background, geographical factors, educational concepts, realistic constraints and objective and subjective reasons. This study takes "Quality Project" of Journalism and Communication as the starting point, analysis the gap between western and eastern disciplines of Journalism and Communication and explores strategy and future direction of the western Journalism and Communication education.Meanwhile, the paper uses the comparative method and the case study method to explore talents training of Journalism and Communication education in U.S., UK, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Learn from their advanced educational idea and teaching mode as resources for China’s Western Journalism and Communication education. In view of the current situation of the fuzzy value orientation of western Journalism and Communication education, the paper considers should strengthen the general education, highlight the journalism occupation morals education, highlight the practice education idea. With the economic and social development as well as the western region characteristic, the paper puts forward the "open, integration, practice" which the new path of talents training in China’s western Journalism and Communication education.
