In 1899,West China Missionary News was founded in Chongqing.It is the earliest Christian newspaper founded in western China.This thesis studies the publication and distribution of the magazine from 1899 to 1911,combined with the historical literature to explore the attention and presentation of West China Missionary News to the society of Chongqing,based on the previous research basis,this paper will deeply analyze the motives for running the West China Missionary News.In this paper,the research materials are combed from two levels,the first is the general situation of West China Missionary News,including the background,operation and management,column setting and publication and source of funds;the second is the preliminary carding of the report about Chongqing,including: author group and source,content and writing characteristics,and then the overall grasp of the research object,do a good job of basic research to clear the meaning of the thesis.Secondly,all the information,thematic reports and even the advertising copybooks published in the news of West China Missionary News are all the records of Chongqing society.Through combing,this article establishes the concern area of West China Missionary News about Chongqing: Chongqing's economic development,missionary activities,civilization enlightenment and famine relief.The presentation of Chongqing's economy and resources in the late Qing Dynasty is mainly reflected in the financial trade,transportation and mining.The promotion of missionary activities mainly from the anti-oceanic struggle of the people of Chongqing,the struggle for the living space between the people and the display of the belief space game.The education reform,the education of Christian evangelism,women's Liberation and the anti footbinding movement and the anti smoking movement and the like a raging fire all founded the West China Christian will quit smoking hall is the thrust of Chongqing civilization and civilized and remarkable achievements of the late Qing dynasty.There are prominent social problems behind the famine and relief,and the frequent and spread of floods,droughts,fires and infectious diseases by missionaries.In fact,the missionary missionaries of west China Churches have the characteristics of concentration and continuity in Chongqing society.The concentrated nature means to a certain extent that the dimensions are limited.The result shows that the focus of the missionaries undoubtedly is closely related to the missionary missionaries and their descendants' lives in Chongqing.The continuing follow-up by missionaries on the related content is enough to peep at the changes and developments in some aspects of Chongqing society.However,these selective presentations can not guarantee full accountability.Fortunately,the historical press materials in the same period provide powerful evidence.In any case,all content hides the development of Christianity in Chongqing and enhances the sense of belonging and identity of missionary groups.Based on the previous research conclusions,in the final part of this article,we will focus on the in-depth discussion of the founding purpose and motivation of West China Missionary News.This paper finds that the publication has been proposed from the beginning of the initial publication,publication contents,operation methods and layout design,etc.The limited circulation English magazine West China Missionary News has built a relatively closed space for readers;Theoretically speaking,the readers in both parties and even in the missionary group knew each other's existence;At the end of the Qing dynasty,although the journal was publicly released,almost all other third-party groups were excluded due to religious beliefs and language restrictions,and the publication could not be known;The information contained in West China Missionary News is mostly the information returned by missionaries at various missionary sites.Some missionaries are both authors and readers at the same time.This requires that the group share common concerns in interactive sharing and share similar emotional experiences.In the interaction between the press and the media and the readers,especially the media with prominent religion,the core is to change the focus of the group through operating strategies and achieve long-term emotional maintenance by sharing common emotional experiences.This is emotional energy.
