The development of social civilization was promoted by the science, which broughtthe rich and colorful life experience. At the same time of enjoying the industrialproducts, people are eager to obtain more material products to meet the growing needs.Products are the links between the enterprises and the customers, and also the carriers ofthe enterprise operating. The development of new products can meet the people’sgrowing material and cultural needs, and can also be the fundamental guarantee of theenterprise survival. In the face of greater competition in the global market and a varietyof customer needs, it is the key of the market competition to provide high qualityproducts with low cost and short time.Product planning and concept design have an important role to connect withcustomer demand and decide the product main features. There is a very importantsignificance to access to customer demand accurately, convert to the goal and concept ofthe new product rapidly. Making full use of internal and external enterprise resources todevelop product collaboratively can win the customers and market by low cost, highquality and satisfied products.Consumer electronics which have a great variety of categories and grow up rapidly,occupy a very large proportion in the industry. Meanwhile, they are closely related tothe human daily life and consumption behavior, so the users are sensitive to thedifference and unstructured characteristics of the products. Consumer electronics, whichare replaced rapidly and have intense competition, are the best embodiment of theinnovation product in the modern manufacturing industry. Therefore, the consumerelectronics development were researched, in view of the unstructured requirementsconversion, concept test, the initial configuration and other related theories and keytechniques. The main researches are as follows:①The method of unstructured requirements acquisition and conversion. Inconsideration of the characteristics and conversion difficulties of unstructuredrequirements, the design theme was determined by gathering the customer unstructuredrequirements through natural language and clustering them through semantic similaritytechnique. By using the psychological metaphor elicitation method, such as the freeassociation, the unstructured requirements was mined and expressed. And the gestaltlogic system was used to map the unstructured requirements to product technical traits. Based on the above work, a feasible way is provided to interpret unstructuredrequirements and convert it into product technical traits.②The multidimensional test method research of new product concept. In view ofthe insufficient in existing testing methods of the new product concept, a set of testingand evaluating methods are proposed by combination of the research results inpsychology and related fields, which consist the subjective test, the objective test usingeyemovement and the product image test. The comprehensive testing and evaluvatingmethods can choose the best, and tell where and why from the differentdimensions,which are progressive and validate each other. So it can provide a reliablebasis for requirements validation, scheme selection and improvement. The empiricalexperiment research verified the feasibility of the method.③The new product initial configuration method research. In view of the commonneeds about how to use the internal and external allocated enterprise resources in newproduct planning and convert the new product technical characteristics into componentsconfiguration, a new product initial configuration framework and resource model havebeen established and the new product initial configuration method was put forward.Based on the decomposition of the new product technical characteristics and the sortingof the component importance, the components which need be replaced, modified orre-designed, can be found by the classification and orientation, similar case retrieval,and configurable judging criteria. Combined with the matching degree of theconfiguration scheme and supplier resources, the configuration scheme can be selectedand assessed, so as to realize the new product components configuration and resourcematching.④The application of the theory and the key techniques. Based on the aboveresearch, the “product innovation platform” has been built with various advanced ITtechniques and the relevant software has been developed for the new product planningneeds of the manufacturing enterprises. Finally, an application of one consumerelectronics industry as an example validated the effectiveness of the methods throughthe practice of the requirements conversion, concept test and initial configuration.
