Study Of Contemporary Chinese Cultural Soft Power

Along with the development of era and progress of society, soft power ofculture plays a very important role in the social progress of manycountries. On the one hand, the level of cultural soft power will directlyinfluent and restrict the whole development of the member of the communityof the nations. On the other hand, cultural soft power can enhance thenational cohesion and creativity, increase the international influence.China is an ancient civilization with a long history. It used to have astrong cultural soft power. By modern times, the Chinese cultural softpower have started to wear off. The decline of cultural soft power resultedin many problems about the social development. Therefore, in order tosolve fundamentally the existing problems in the development of thesociety, promote the comprehensive development of community and enhancethe international influence of our culture, we should enhance culturalsoft power.Fortunately the entire country recognizes the importance of developingcultural soft power deeply in recent years. Cultural soft power of Chinais constructed intensely. The construction of cultural soft power hasachieved remarkable results but we must understand clearly that there area lot of inadequacies in theory and practice. These inadequacies arerestricting the enhancement for national cultural soft power.Inadequacies in theory include the following. Firstly the basictheoretical research is relatively weak. Now there are not many basictheoretical researches on the concept of cultural soft power, theresources of cultural soft power and the essential characteristics ofcultural soft power。The existing researches have a lack of the abilityof innovative. Secondly we have the lack of the systematic and scientificstrategies for developing cultural soft power. We have the differentopinions on the concept of cultural soft power so we proposed many measuresfor the development of cultural soft power. But there are not any effective methods. Thirdly the research on cultural soft power is not based in theChinese reality. After western scholars posed the concept of cultural softpower, Chinese academics begun to study cultural soft power without takingany account of Chinese reality and always used the works of westernscholars directly. So it led to the study of the achievement unconnectedwith Chinese reality. These deficiencies in the theoretical study of thecultural soft power result in the lack of effective theoretical guidancein the construction of cultural soft power. So there is a great numberof problems have cropped up, such as the insufficiency of the capacityof the resource conversion, the unbalance of cultural undertakings andindustry development and the weak global influence of cultural soft power.So the in-depth research on the theory and practice of cultural soft poweris great significative issue in reality. The research methods ofliterature research, comparative analysis and historical method areemployed in the paper. I will study the problem of Chinese cultural softpower in theory and practice. I hope I can provide some suggestions onthe improvement of cultural soft power of our country.I think the theory of cultural soft power is developed on the basis ofthe theories of the culture, the soft power and the cultural strength.Cultural soft power is connected with the culture, the soft power and thecultural strength. But there are tremendous differences between them. Soif we want to understand the cultural soft power properly, we shouldunderstand these concepts. Except for the concepts, the paper talks aboutthe theory of cultural soft power. I point out that cultural soft powerhas some properties, such as the class character and the universality,the dependence and the independence, the persistence and the socialhistoricity, the intangibility, the permeability. In our historicaldevelopment we have the rich resources of cultural soft power. Theyinclude Chinese traditional culture, fine culture under the guidance ofMarxism, the cultural tradition of Western society. To have resources ofcultural soft power does not mean having cultural soft power. We must turnthese resources to advantage. On the basis of the deep analysis of the resources the author analyzed the constitute elements and manifestationsof cultural soft power. The constitute elements of cultural soft powerare cultural cohesion, cultural productivity, cultural competitive,cultural influence. The manifestations of cultural soft power are values,ideals and beliefs, the languages, cultural products. In fact，culturalsoft power has an important role in the full human development, the risein overall national strength，the enhancing the national cohesion, theimproving international influence. So, the construction of cultural softpower is even more important.There are many problems in our cultural soft power, for instance, thecapacity of resource conversion in cultural soft power resources isinsufficient, some defects in the subject of cultural soft power have thelack of ability in guiding and integrating all kinds of value points，the lag of cultural industries, insufficiency in the development ofcultural undertakings, weakness in cultural propagation force. So weshould establish the theory of socialist culture with Chinesecharacteristics. Then we should enhance cultural soft power by theconstruction of the subject of cultural soft power. Because, enhancingcultural soft power need a lot of high-quality person. And enhancing theoverall quality of the subject of cultural soft power can promote thedevelopment of cultural soft power. Furthermore, we should enhancecultural soft power’s international influence by external cultureexchange. Thus, cultural soft power will to be a qualitative leap.In short，we have to realize that the construction of cultural soft poweris a systematic assignment. Based on Chinese reality, We can enhance ourcultural soft power by establishing rounded theory system of cultural softpower，promoting the round development of all social members, increasingthe international influence of cultural soft power.
