It is an objective fact that informal organization widely exists in firms, and traditional Chinese culture provides particularly fertile soil for informal organization to develop. Informal organization in Chinese firms today show clear characteristics of a transition period, and a firm cannot afford to ignore the fact that informal organization and its effect exist objectively in conducting its human resource management. At present, there have been many new advances in the practice of and theoretical study on human resource management; however, not enough attention has been paid to the issue of the effect of informal organization, and not enough effort has been made to study human resource management from a sociological perspective. In this dissertation, we first systematically review, from a sociological theoretical perspective, relevant theories about informal organization in the field of human resource management, construct a theoretical model for analyzing the effect of informal organization from a sociological perspective, apply the model in a theoretical and empirical study on the effect of informal organization in human resource management, and, finally, explore the issue of management mechanisms. Such a study can help to deepen the theoretical understanding of the effect of informal organization, to promote innovation in theoretical studies in the field of human resource management of firms, and to drive for the perfection of and innovation in the practice of human resource management.The dissertation is divided into 7 chapters, the outline for which are the following:Chapter 1: the introduction, explicates the significance of the topic chosen for this dissertation, the content of the study, and the methods to be used for the study, with important concepts used for the study defined.Chapter 2: gives a summary review of theories in Western management science and sociology related to the study of informal organization.Chapter 3: proposes a theoretical model for studying the effect of informal organization, and analyzes the functional effects of the influence of informal organization.
