Virtual prototyping (VP) technology can be applied to the designing and manufacturing of construction machinery, through the establishment of the digital product model to predict the characteristics of various construction machinery under real conditions and their responses, to complete the physical prototype of the virtual test that can not be carried out with visualization technology numerous times, thus obtaining the optimal program without creating and testing physical prototypes, shortening the development cycle, and improving product quality and the response of businesses to market. The dissertation focuses mainly on VP and its key technologies based on the major project research on "VP technology of complex product" (issue No. 031110119) regarding scientific and technological development program of Shandong Province and "Virtual Design engineering machinery manufacturing technology development and application" of Shandong Changlin Group research project, and has resolved the practical problems of VP technology in the development of construction machinery. The main contents and achievements are listed as follows:(1) Putting forward the systematic structure of construction machinery architecture VP. From the perspective of systems engineering, studying mechanical engineering in general VP technology, and putting forward the VP engineering machinery involved in the overall technical architecture and the use of standardized criteria, norms and agreements, network and database technology, system integration technology, and system operating mode.(2) Studying the collaborative simulation technology of construction machinery VP based on HLA, and analyzing the model adapter integrated multidisciplinary method of workflow adapter based on HLA/RTI's co-simulation method of construction machinery.(3) Analyzing the technology of VP in the co-design techniques, the optimization designing process of collaborative parameter of construction machinery, the realization of CSCD (Computer Supported Cooperative Design) based on web environment and cooperative design system structure and function of Web-based construction machinery.(4) Analyzing the product development process from the initial and traditional serial development to parallel development, and the characteristics of development models of VP, and studying mechanical engineering in the development process, product life-cycle-dimensional definition of the process applied to the development of peacekeeping, and proposing VP System Engineering Machinery of the development process chain.(5) Discussing the credibility of Simulation of construction machinery following the architecture needs of VPT & E environment, and coming up with the comprehensive integration-based engineering machinery VPT & E technical method of construction machinery of virtual prototyping technology, offering support to the research.(6) Designing and developing, "Construction Machinery collaborative development platform for virtual prototyping" system with independent intellectual property rights, thus having brought effective management into co-simulation, collaborative design, VPT & E and team process, data in the process of product development; and(7) Using "Construction Machinery collaborative development platform for virtual prototyping" for the development of a typical engineering machine, YZ18JA road roller, an optimum design has been achieved by making collaborative interdisciplinary designs and simulated analyses of VP. The cycle of product development will be shortened by 30% and that of manufacture by 25%. The quality of engineering machinery will be greatly improved, and hence enhanced competitiveness of enterprises in the market. VP technology will certainly be a big step forward to the reduction of the development cycle of new products, the improvement of product quality, the cutting of development cost and the enhancement of competitiveness in the international market.
