Intelligent optical network is the integration of IP intelligence and optical resources.Through the introduction of control plane,flexible control of optical layer can be realized.The intelligence for Network configuration and management is enable,End to end light-path can be established,deleted and modified flexibly responding to request of the customers.In one word,the essences of intelligent automatic switched optical networks are dynamical bandwidth allocation on demand, intelligent connection management,and rapid and efficient survivability strategy.But up to now,the carriers still hold hesitation on the ASON technologies,included ASON stability,dynamic performance in the case of heavy traffic and economic performance etc.This thesis is divided into six chapters,which can be grouped into two parts.Marked with ** are the major achievements.The first part is mainly about the ASON survivability issue,service dynamic performance,resource utilization optimization(Including chapters 2,3,4).Simultaneous connection request block probability under ASON heavy traffic is studied,with a theory model which expatiate ASON dynamic block probability,we make related analysis for the network block probability which can be triggered by network load and simultaneous request connection also.For the first time, heavy traffic as background service are introduced into the theory to evaluate its impact on the block probability which make the research closed to the true network.Experimental results by lab test-bed verify the network load is not the only reason for the block characteristic.The lab-test result first give the clear correlation among the dynamic request,simultaneous request conflict and background traffic on the block probability.When the simultaneous dynamic connection requests reach a certain level,it will be the major cause for the network block.The network load only when it consumes large resource will be the primary limitation for the block probability.This model makes it possible to evaluate ASON network dynamic connection performance.(**)ASON dynamic restoration performance in the case of the heavy traffic is studied,Based on the extension for the Dijkstra algorithm,Joint Variable Weight(JVW) are introduced into,at first time,the link cost are defined in the JVW according to the real network requirements in which the link used probability and link saturation are both considered along with the hop,distance. the performance of this algorithm are validated by a innovative heavy traffic model.By experiment,the restoration time for two restoration modes are compared;algorithm self restoration time-delay are verify.In further,the connection block probability and link selection mechanism are also studied for this algorithm. (**)Network resource utilization is analyzed;network topology and protection type have different impact on the resource utilization, the simulation is made to improve the utilization.Different restriction condition for the restoration algorithm such as node diversity(ND),link diversity(LD) and failure diversity(FD) are also proposed to compare the impact on the restoration capability. The second part is mainly refer to the ASON and 3G-oriented transmission network economic performance(Including chapters 5,6) (**)From the view of the network planning,to migration the current SDH network smoothly,the concept of ASON network performance and economic analysis are proposed,With the certain service model,different networking ways are compared to get the most economic architecture.Same as above,to smooth migration to the 3G-oriented transmission network,based on the forecast for 3G service type and traffic model,the bandwidth and function requirements are proposed to planned 3G-oriented the transmission network architecture,And the networking cost and performance under the certain service model are compared between the SDH and PTN technology,as a conclusion,the PTN will be the main choice for the 3G-oriented transmission network,then the related network scale are modeled which can give the good reference for the real construction.
