The simulation of Chinese painting relates to a lot of theories and technologies, and is a research field of multi-discipline integration. Based on the long-time observing, practicing, analyzing and studying, the function, the relation and the reaction of every element which makes up Chinese painting are expounded, and the computer simulation of Chinese painting is studied multi-angled-ly in this dissertation.Firstly, this dissertation presents an effective thickness Xuan-paper model. Xuan-paper is composed by the paper-fibre-cell; the plane of paper is composed by the grids of paper-cell which is the basic unit of holding and transmitting water and ink; every paper-cell can contain different number of paper-fibre-cell, and the number means the effective thickness of the Xuan-paper; the effective thickness at different position of paper can be generated randomly and the different range of random number simulate the different quality of paper.Secondly, the mechanics of fluids in porous media and soil-water dynamics are introduced to the research of the motion of water and ink in Xuan-paper to present the physics process of forming Chinese painting special effect. The dissertation indicates that the difference of paper-water potential energy between two paper-cell drives water moving from one point to another, the potential energy of paper-cell is the function of the moisture content, the movement of ink includes the convection caused by the movement of paper-water and the diffusion caused by the difference of ink consistency distributing and the convection plays a leading role.Thirdly, this dissertation describes the brush shape by exponent curve model. The parameters of function show the geometry characters and the distortion when force acts on the brush. The variation of potential energy of the water on the brush drives the water moving from one point to another; the potential energy of the water on the brush consists of matter-potential and geopotential; the ink movement on the brush can only be considered that it is the convection caused by the movement of the water on the brush.Finally, this dissertation studies the 3D modeling for Chinese painting. A frame is presented which is composed by the analysis and the extraction of Chinese painting's features, the feature-based 3D modeling and the control of the shape of object. The research has already obtained preliminary results.
