Simulation Research On Color Model Of Chinese Painting

With a long history and rich legacy, Chinese Painting plays a vital role in the oriental art. In recent years, with the fast development of computer graphics technology, many researchers have gained excellent visual effects in art simulation, which contribute to an unpreventable combination of computer and art. And the research on simulation of Chinese Painting has become one of the highlights in the field of digital computer art.The simulation of the necessary factor pigment is indispensable to simulation of Chinese Painting.This paper put forward a simulation model for the color mechanism in Chinese Painting, which mainly consists of two parts, including the simulation of pigment in Chinese Painting and the simulation of the pigment diffusion effect. In the first part, we realise the difference between vegetal pigments and mineral pigments, through the pigments characteristics. Kubelka-Munk theory of color optics was then introduced to compute the scattering and adsorbing parameter in order to obtain effects of the mixture of different pigments and the superposition of multilayer pigments. In the second part, we made necessary supplement to the existing theory, analyzing the differences of diffusion effects between various kinds of pigments and that between pigments and ink. In addition, the two layer paper model structure was imported and divided into diffusion layer and deposition layer. The water and pigment particles were transferred to every layer and their numbers in each layer were measured, according to their states changing in the paper. Finally, we computed pigment thickness using the number of particles in each mesh and displayed the final effect based on the pigment simulation model. The model successfully realizes the simulation for the particularity of the pigments in Chinese Painting and it also gains a good effect in diffusion simulation.This paper aims at the special characteristics of the pigments and the color mechanism in Chinese Painting. With a high practicability, the simulation of the pigments and their applying method promotes the development of the simulation of Chinese Painting.
