With the development of modern science and technology, it becomes one of the hottest research topics to simulate the traditional paint media and tools by using computer. Being a discipline generated by the combination of science and art, Computer Graphics plays an important role in this work. Many works have been done about the simulation of Western fine art system such as oil painting, watercolor painting and so on. However, as the apotheosis of the Oriental fine art system, the Chinese painting was not regarded as the subject of simulation until recent two years. Based on the former research of this project, this paper explores several key issues in the simulation of Chinese painting deeply, presenting corresponding models of simulation towards different simulation targets. This not only helps to reduce the difficulties of simulation as a whole, but also helps to enrich the functions of the simulation system. Consequently, satisfactory artistic effects are acquired. Firstly, this paper presents a fractal-based approach to simulate the irregular diffusion border. This approach first generates a diffusion stroke through fluid simulation model. Then it simulates an irregular outer border on the diffusion stroke. Finally, it fills the interspace between them to make the diffusion effect more natural and authentic.Secondly, this paper presents the concept of building calligraphy stroke warehouse to provide users more convenience for creative activities. An autoregressive model is also proposed for the matching of strokes. Finally, this paper presents a whole set of methods to simulate "the Four Gracious" in Chinese painting. The skeleton of a plant is generated first by using L-system, then the different locations of the skeleton are represented by different components, and the self-similar leaves are generated by the texture synthesis techniques.
