Research Of QoS Based Network Pricing In Broadband IP Network

With the development of the network, people will depend on it more and more. To provide better service, the network is faced many new challenges in the research of network service and resource, such as: the scarcity of resources, the diversity of services, the distribution of resources and commercialization of applications. Nowadays, network providers pay more attention to the satisfaction of customers; the most important thing for them is the services. Traditional methods of network pricing only take into account of the time length for using network or the totality of the consuming network resource. Now in the broadband network with multi services, these methods will not correctly weigh the usage of every kind of network resource.There will be more and more kinds of service in the Internet such as IP phone, remote education and video on demand. The technology for providing quality of real-time service is becoming mature too. The technology of network management should be ameliorated with the QoS(Quality of Service) technology of real-time service. Providing quality of service for users should be the strategy of the network pricing. In the network with many users and many kinds of service, pricing will not only be the means of getting money, it will be a way of controlling users behavior for consuming network resource correctly to ensure the network well-balanced running. In this dissertation, the network pricing based QoS in the broadband IP network system has been deeply studied.The concept of network service and its mathematic description were brought forward at first, and the model of IntServ and DiffServ are introduced. The meaning of quality of service and its mathematic signification have been analyzed. The network pricing is to charge for the consuming of the network service. The foundation of the network pricing and network control based pricing is to mathematically describe the network service and quality of service. In this dissertation, the mathematical description of network service and quality of service have been given for the first time.Network price, users' behavior and network control depend on each other. Their relationship has been introduced here. Users' behavior are influenced by the network price, and users' behavior affect the network quality of service too. The infection of network price on users' behavior is not only the question of the price's value and users' usage, but also the users' requirement to kinds of network services, the quality of network service and levels of consumption for different user groups.The superiority of QoS based network pricing to traditional network pricing has been proved here. The QoS based pricing is excellent than the traditional pricing based usage because that by the QoS based pricing not only the users but also the network operator can maximize their benefit.
