With the rapid development of computing technology, communication technology, sensor technology and etc, the pervasive computing is coming true. In pervasive computing environment, the computing is invisible for users, but they may still enjoy its services perfectly. In order to realize this Utopian idea, the system needs to be a context-aware one, that causes the context-aware technology to become one of the key technologies in pervasive computing. In this dissertation, research on building an infrastructure for context-aware to support pervasive computing is focused. Related theoretical and practical works are carried out as following:(1) Open system technologies are introduced to develop a brand-new underlying infrastructure for context-aware in pervasive computing. The conceptual model established on middleware is proposed.(2) In order to realize the open middleware-based infrastructure, three kinds of different problems need to be solved. This first is how to realize context-aware, the second is how to make it adapt to the pervasive computing, the third is how to make it to be an open system. In the dissertation, a series of key technologies are studied on, which includes the layered function model of context-aware, subject-type model, unified context service model, dynamic binding mechanism, routing mechanism in trader federation, mobile middleware and context-aware access control.(3) An open middleware-based infrastructure for context-aware in pervasive computing, called OCAenv, is designed and implemented. Its main components include pvcwCORBA, context-aware object service, discovery service and dynamic binding layer.(4) Potential security problems in pervasive computing are analized. The context-based access control and the knowledge-based access control is proposed, related principles and architecture are discussed, and its prototype is implemented.(5) A context-aware application, named WiW2, is implemented to verify some features of OCAenv.
