Pervasive Computing is a new computing mode, the aim of which is to achieve the integration of information space (consisting of communications and computing) and physical space where people live and work. In this environment, people can access digital service anytime and anywhere. It is very important of context-awareness as the premise and basic of the realizing of pervasive computing environment. The middleware technology has long been the research focus of scholars at home and abroad, because it can shield the hardware, software development and system run-time heterogeneity. It also provides a unified access interface for the upper applications. Context-aware middleware is a significant support platform for information acquisition and processing in pervasive computing environment. For the provision of certain services, some special and heterogeneous devices may be selected, for which appropriate interactive approach is also designed. However, when needing to provide a richer service, the new device is possibly unable to adapt the original devices' interactive approach or combine with new services seamlessly, leading to the service's poor extendibility. In addition, context of redundancy and requiring a huge amount of storage space will further affect the expansion of services and overall system performance. For the above, this thesis carries out the following aspects of work:(1) This thesis gives an in-depth exposition and analysis of pervasive computing, middleware and context-aware-related technologies, which provides a theoretical basis for this study.(2) This thesis presents a Jini-based service framework, which breakthrough the device and software restrictions, enhances the service scalability and interactivity.(3) Based on the framework, this thesis presents a XML-based context collection and integration strategy. It can reduce the amount of context storage, shield the heterogeneity, and provide a unified expression of context information on the premise of ensuring the precision and freshness of the context. Further more, it lays the foundation of efficient Pervasive Computing Service.(4) Freshmen Registration and self-help guide as the scenarios, this thesis designs a context-aware middleware for Pervasive Computing to verify the above research and achieves an ideal experimental result.
