Product is the life of enterprise and new product development is the impetus of enterprise evolution. The product development process in modern enterprise is not only creative and intelligent, but also collective and cooperative. Complex products are often developed collaboratively by many related branches and departments, which are from different domain and location. With the development of computer and Internet, the express, exchange and share efficiency of information improved dramatically, this makes Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) techniques become popularly and grown quickly. As an important aspect of CSCW, CAD also evolutes revolutionarily from single user system that supports only individually computing and drawing to Collaborative Design system that supports team work with human-human interact and collaborative decision-making environment. Collaborative Design enhances the intercourse and cooperation between enterprise and department, utilizes advantage of group work, improves the efficiency of product development, and enhances the competition ability of enterprise.This dissertation deals with the theory and practice of key technologies in collaborative design system, such as, the system architecture, multi-Agent collaborative design working mechanism, product information model and data exchange method, video meeting system inside collaborative design environment and security management. Based on the result of the researches, a die collaborative design prototype system is implemented. The main research content and results are briefly summarized as follows:1) The architecture of collaborative design system and the working mechanism of multi-Agent based collaborative design are researched.A new type of constructing method and flowchart of multi-agent collaborative mechanical design architecture is proposed in this dissertation. With the use of this theory, a system based on Component Agent is presented, which supports Web and distributed environment. This system is flexible, open and easy for management and autonomy. Still the classification, architecture and communication of Agent are researched. Then the collaborative design mechanism of multi-agent, such as, rule of task decomposition, cooperation and coordination of agent, learning and adaptation of agent are researched. Finally, a top-down design method based on Group Technology and Agent is proposed, which effectively satisfies the need of collaborative design.2) A dedicated collaborative product information model is proposed. Collaborative product information model should not only be resultdata-oriented but also design knowledge-oriented and design process-oriented. Except design result, design constrain and design knowledge, the design history management related to collaboration working process should be included in collaborative product information model to enable co-designer understanding each others. This also makes the agent can work autonomously and collaboratively based on the specified product model. Based on above idea, a hiberarchycollaborative product information model is put forward, and collaborative design information, feature and parametric technology is emphasized. Multi domain feature coexists in product model connected by collaborative information to fit for the need of collaborative design. A 2D parametric geometry method derived from the drawing history and calculating based on design constraint theory is proposed. With the combination of 2D parametric method and feature technology, a 3D feature parametric method is proposed.3) A XML based collaborative information exchange method is proposed.A collaborative information exchange method is proposed, which fully takes the advantage of XML, such as, platform, database and application independence, well data self describe ability, supporting query and being update dynamically.
